He's probably getting it out of sympathy. They probably feel bad for him, considering how jealous he was of Lord Black being Knighted. ;D I don't think Mike Weir deserves the Order of Canada either. He's just a bloody golf player... and not even a very good one. He won the Masters once a couple of years ago... Big fscking deal. I say let him win the Masters twice to prove his worth. Anybody can get lucky once! And Pamela Wallin? She's a TV journalist. Has she done anything really significant in her career? I don't know. I don't know very much about this woman at all. Perhaps she is a worthy recipient. Who knows?

Perhaps she is a worthy recipient. Who knows? all are deserving of these honours.hey chapter 6 what are your personnal achievements? That's not the point. The point is that the Order of Canada is just another means for certain members of Canadian society to pat themselves on the back at taxpayers expense. The Order of Canada serves no real purpose, and those who receive it normally have done very little for Canada or its people. Mike Weir, for example, is receiving the honour for playing a game. He stands on grass and hits a ball with a stick for crying out loud. Yet, someone somewhere has decided that he deserves this honour for having had better luck than everyone else at one PGA Masters tournament. Call me crazy, but I think the money he won in that tournament, along with the green jacket was a big enough honour. Hmm, maybe I should go to bingo. I'll be helping local charities, and if I get lucky and win once, I'll be eligible for the Order of Canada. Go team! Oh, and what about Jean Chretien? He was the leader of one of the most corrupt governments in recent history. He was elected Prime Minister not on merit, but because he was the only real alternative to the disasterous Conservative government of Brian Mulroney and Kim Campbell. Jean Chretien was forced to resign in disgrace when his own party turned against him. Yeah, he's definitely deserving of the Order of Canada. (Note strong sarcasm) It's pretty sad when the only real honour that Canada can bestow upon its citizens is trivialized by how bloody easy it is to receive it. You don't really have to accomplish anything to receive this honour. And for that reason alone, the Order of Canada, like damn near everything this country does, is either a joke, or quickly becoming one.

What about some of the other names on the list? Tom Cochrane? Give me a break! I say it's the 'Lunatic Fringe' who are deciding who gets the Order of Canada. Pfft.

GOOD OLD HOCKEY GAME Stompin' Tom Connors
Hello out there, were on the air it's hockey night tonight! The tension grows, the whistle blows, and the puck goes down the ice. The golie jumps, and and the players bump, and the fans all go insane. Someone roars: "Bobby Scores!" At the good old hockey game!
(chours) Oh! The good old hockey game! Its the best game you can name! And the best game you can name, is the good old hockey game!
Second Period. Where players dash, with skates a-flash, the home team trails behind. But they grab the puck, and go bursting up, and their down across the line. They storm the crease, like bumblebees, and they travel like a burning flame. We see them slide the puck inside, its a one one hockey game!
(chours) Oh! The good old hockey game! Its the best game you can name! And the best game you can name, is the good old hockey game!
Third Period. Last game in the play-offs too. Oh take me where, the hockey players, face off down the rink, And the Stanley Cup, is all filled up, for the champs who win the drink! Now the final flick, of a hockey stick, and a one gigantic scream: "THE PUCK IS IN! THE HOME TEAM WINS!" At the good ol hockey game
(chorus repeat 3 times) OH! The good old hockey game! Its the best game you can name! And the best game you can name, is the good old hockey game!
